The last night

We are on the last night in our flat, we both have one fully packed suitcase and are working on the second one. Today we have done a lot of ‘daily chores’ to prepare for the next steps. Laundry, making med boxes for as long as we have supplies, I cooked enough yesterday that we can eat well until tomorrow.

There are times looking at what needs to be done that it’s overwhelming, but by removing our first bags and seeing what’s left will help us know what else is next. On Tuesday we have a removal company that will take as much as they can, some gets resold, unfortunately some just has to be binned. We will make a few resale stops and charity stops, but we don’t have the energy left to make sure that things can be reused versus walking away.

Tomorrow I will try to clear out the things from our Studio 42 space that I want/ need to bring with and the other things will be left outside for people to take and maybe create. My remaining pottery things I will offer first to studio members, but if they don’t need them I hope they can find someone who will appreciate them and not just use them.

This is the level of ‘done’ we are at. Our next couple of months we don’t have infinite income but the energy it takes to try and get some recompense is too much right now. We have been placing things outside our flat with a free sign, and even received a heartfelt thanks from someone about the games and films we put outside.

One of the things I won’t miss is taking an hour to make my med boxes because I have to pop out over 100 individual pills from blister packs to easily have access to them.

Neither of us sleep super well because we keep having those ‘3am’ thoughts about what have we forgotten, what have we done wrong, and will this be better. There are so many things we are looking forward to, but it’s so hard to leave a place that has felt like home for this long.

We are both super excited to have so many opportunities, after we rest and reset awhile. After that watch out world.
