Don’t be alarmed! No news has mostly been good news.
We have been in our new home since March 31, 2025. It’s exactly what we hoped for when we started searching for our roving abode. We have had a steep learning curve to follow, but we have a handle on almost all the systems and how to keep ‘Priscilla’ running smoothly.
We picked ‘Priscilla’ up in Indiana and then drove to Colorado. We stopped at truck stops to sleep while we crossed so much territory, and then kept going in the morning. We stopped briefly to shop or get fuel, but for the most part we just drove. Correction Didi drove, not ‘we’.
Since April 4th we have been taking care of business in Craig, CO. We have family there and connections to a lot of the paperwork resources we needed to accomplish. Lots of local government stops, but we are close to our goals.
This past weekend we opted to head West of Craig to find a quiet out of the way place to rest and refuel for the coming week. At the suggestion of a good friend we drove out to Sand Wash Basin and found a wide spot off the road and have been parked watching nature.
This Sunday we both went out with our cameras and walked and shot pictures. If we saw something cool one or the both of us would stop and take some snaps before moving on. The landscape is so familiar and comforting that we have taken lots of photos of the beautiful hills, the vegetation, and the changes we see at different times of day. One of the things we were hoping to see was some wild horses. Sand Wash has a herd of wild horses that are free to roam within this area, and because of size of the area it’s not guaranteed to see them. We got lucky, towards the midway point of our walk I noticed some different colours out in the distance. Didi and I both had our ‘long lenses’ on our cameras and we captured 2 of the horses on film. Luckily I shoot on a DSLR so I was able to look at my pics right away, but because Didi is a purist she will have to get her film developed and printed to know what she captured.
Neither of us stay awake very late right now, but right before bedtime we stepped outside and because of the dark skies we saw more stars than we have seen in a very long time. To be surrounded by the beautiful landscape and so many points of life above us was a great way to settle down to sleep.
